The Heidi Sofa by Thayer Coggin brings a softer shape to modern seating. Designed by Ransom Culler, its gently curved silhouette pairs Scandinavian influence with generous proportions, creating an inviting place for conversation or an evening spent relaxing.
Choose between two distinct foundations. A walnut plinth follows the sofa’s form for a grounded, sculptural appearance, while tapered solid maple legs give Heidi a lighter presence and reveal more of the floor beneath it. Both versions share the same overall dimensions and comfortable poly blend down seat cushioning.
Upholstery and wood finish selections allow Heidi to take on a character suited to your room. Choose a subtle textile to emphasize the curves or a more expressive fabric to make the sofa a focal point. Thayer Coggin’s custom upholstery program also accommodates customer-supplied material.
Give Heidi the look that feels at home in your room. A walnut plinth highlights the sofa’s sweeping curves, while tapered maple legs lend a light, airy appearance. Choose a wood finish to complement your upholstery and bring the design together.

Thayer Coggin
Thayer Coggin's love of furniture began one early Christmas morning, when all he asked for was a claw hammer. After receiving it, Thayer made his own bedroom suite. A few years later, in shop class at High Point High School, he made rocking chairs and cedar chests for tuition to attend High Point College. Then, after service in WWII, he returned to his first love and founded James Manufacturing. But, Thayer dreamed of producing designs that were innovative. He traveled to Europe for inspiration and he was impressed by the light-scaled upholstery he saw there. He said, "The simple, clean lines appealed to my sense of beauty...[their impression] hit me like a ton of bricks." Home in High Point, he developed a singular focus: to develop furniture featuring sleek, horizontal lines, synonymous with the ranch-style homes that characterized post-war suburbia.
