The Stressless Replacement Control Box for Max & Mike Recliners serves as the central command unit that synchronizes every chair movement. This control box is the latest version available. It ensures seamless compatibility with all Stressless Max and Mike power-reclining models, new and old, while maintaining smooth, reliable operation throughout daily use. This essential component restores balance to the chair’s movement, helping each function respond with precision and consistency for a comfortable, uninterrupted experience at home.
How It Works
The control box connects and coordinates all powered components in the chair:
- One port connects to the button panel
- Three individual ports connect to the actuators (or "motors"): Headrest, backrest, and footrest
It controls movement, speed, and timing so each part of the chair operates smoothly and in sync.
Before You Buy: Important Troubleshooting
Many issues that seem like a faulty control box can be fixed without replacing it. Review these steps carefully.
1. No Lights on the Button Panel
If nothing lights up when pressing buttons:
- Check that the chair has power
- Confirm the transformer light is green
- Try plugging the power supply into a different outlet
- Make sure the outlet is not controlled by a wall switch
- If using a battery, be certain it is not dead by unplugging it and running power to the recliner directly.
If the chair is not receiving power, replacing the control box will not solve the problem.
2. Chair Is Stuck or Not Moving Properly
If the headrest, backrest, or footrest will not move:
- Run the reset function. See video below or follow this reset link
- This corrects timing and position errors and restores factory settings
Important!
If your chair has a battery installed, disconnect it during the reset and bypass it. If the battery stays connected, the reset will not complete properly. The two wires connected to the battery should now connect to each other; the wire will now connect directly to the wire coming out of the control box.
3. Blue Light Blinking on Button Panel
If the button panel blinks blue and the chair does not respond:
- Perform a reset
- If needed, repeat the reset two or three times. Sometimes, a malfunctioning actuator requires multiple realignments to reseat into the correct position.
If the blue blinking light continues after multiple resets, a new control box is likely needed.
When a Control Box Replacement Makes Sense
You may need a new control box if:
- The chair has power but still does not function correctly after resets
- The blue blinking issue does not resolve after multiple attempts
- The system is clearly receiving power but not responding properly
The control box manages timing and coordination, so failures here can affect all movement.
What About the Actuators or Button Panel?
- Actuators (motors) rarely fail on Stressless Max and Mike Recliners and are mechanically simple
- Most “stuck” positions are caused by timing issues, not actuator failure
- If the button panel works during reset, it is usually not the issue
Because of this, the control box is more commonly the source of persistent operational problems.
