Skovby Oil is based on vegetable oils. The oils will nourish the wood and maintain its appearance. Also, it impregnates the wood and makes it water-repellent. Based on your environment, solid and veneer surfaces should be re-oiled at least once yearly.
Scratches
If you have a scratched solid surface, sand carefully along the grain using a soft grinding sponge (grit 220 or higher). If you have a scratched oiled-veneer surface, do not use sandpaper. Depending on the scratch's nature, different repair methods may be recommended for scratched veneer surfaces.
Cleaning the Surface
Use a lukewarm damp cloth with a few drops of uncolored soft dish detergent to clean the surface.
Wipe the surface with a clean, dry cloth. Leave the wood to dry for about two hours after cleaning before treating it with the Skovby Care Collection oil.
Applying Oil
Apply the oil directly onto the surface in an even, thin layer and rub it gently with a disposable, uncolored cloth/sponge. Rubbing with and against the grain may help create a consistent appearance. After 2-3 minutes, wipe off all remaining oil with a clean, dry cloth. It is very important that this is done while the surface is still wet. It will take the oil up to two days to harden completely and provide maximum protection. Repeat this treatment 2-3 times a year or when needed.
Additional Care
Please be advised that Skovby oil can rub off on clothing/upholstery/carpet/rugs before it has hardened. The oil cannot be washed off. Take care to cover your surroundings.
SHAKE BEFORE USE
Rinse used sponges and cloths thoroughly with water. Place them in an airtight container or plastic bag and dispose of them through your household waste collection service.
