The Octo 4240 uses an E26 LED bulb up to 22 W or a GU24 LED bulb up to 17 W, depending on configuration. It is rated for 120V 60Hz and includes an 8 ft textile cable, ceiling connector, and ceiling cup. The fixture is IP20 rated, Class II, and ETL/CETL listed. Bulbs are not included, and Secto Design advises against halogen, mirror, or 12 V bulbs because of overheating risk.

The shade is made from PEFC certified form pressed birch slats, shaped and assembled by skilled craftspeople in Finland. Depending on finish, the lamp is available in untreated natural birch, white laminate, black laminate, or waxed walnut veneer. The cable and ceiling cup are coordinated to the selected finish, with white components used for natural birch, white laminated, and walnut veneer versions, and black components used for the black laminated version.
Routine care is simple and helps preserve the warmth and finish of the birch shade over time. Regular dusting is recommended, and fresh marks should be removed with a slightly moist cloth. For installation, Secto Design advises keeping pendants at least 5.9 in from the ceiling for air circulation and away from strong sources of humidity unless adequate ventilation is ensured.

Seppo Koho
Seppo Koho is a Finnish architect and designer known for his work in modern Scandinavian lighting. He began collaborating with Secto Design in the mid 1990s and has designed most of the brand’s collection. His designs are recognized for their use of form pressed birch slats that create soft, atmospheric light. Koho studied at the University of Art and Design Helsinki and later earned a degree in architecture from Tampere University of Technology. His work, including the Octo series, has become internationally recognized for its balance of craftsmanship, simplicity, and warmth.
