Steen Østergaard
Steen Østergaard, born in Denmark in 1935, is a renowned furniture designer known for his innovative and ergonomic designs. After training as a cabinetmaker and imagery carver, he studied furniture architecture at Copenhagen's School of Arts & Crafts, where he graduated with honors. Østergaard gained international recognition early in his career, winning the 1st prize in a major competition before finishing his education. He is celebrated for designing the first plastic chair molded in one piece in 1966, and his iconic furniture, like the A-series 290 & 265, remains highly sought after. Today, he continues to design from his home in the south of France.
