The Kasliwal Bowl Table blends traditional Indian craftsmanship with the refined simplicity of Scandinavian design. Its tabletop, hand-turned from sustainably sourced mango wood, reflects the skill of the Kharadi—a renowned Indian wood-turning community—helping to preserve and support their craft heritage. Finished in a lead-free, water-based lacquer, the solid wood top rests on detachable, milled hollow steel legs for easy transport. The Bowl Table can stand beautifully on its own or be grouped with others to create a striking, layered composition.
Also available in Matek™, a groundbreaking sustainable material developed and patented by Mater Design of Denmark, the Kasliwal Bowl Table reimagines waste as a valuable resource. Matek™ combines natural fibers—such as coffee bean shells and sawdust—with binders made from recycled plastic or bio-based alternatives, reducing dependence on virgin materials. The mixture forms a durable compound suitable for press molding, a well-known technique in furniture making. This innovative process not only diverts waste from landfills but also captures carbon, transforming discarded materials into enduring, design-driven furniture. Through collaborations with large-scale industries, Mater continues to produce timeless pieces using post-consumer and post-industrial waste—proof that sustainability and craftsmanship can coexist beautifully.
