The model was designed by Poul Christiansen in 1971, but new sizes were added to the range as recently as 2009. This very popular model is available in many variations, so you are sure to find a size to fit any space.
Located in Odense, Denmark, LE KLINT focuses on good craftsmanship and in-house production as branding cornerstones. World-renowned quality lighting results from techniques and traditions handed down from generation to generation, which are still carried out today by a broad team of highly skilled workers.

LE KLINT is synonymous with lampshades. Iconic, hand-folded shades take years of learning techniques and mastering many different pleating forms. Only then can a student test into certification to become part of the skilled team of Pleating Technicians. However, this is only a fraction of the procedure of each lamp. Specialist metal workers, woodworkers, and engineers play a big part in the magic of creating unique illuminated art. These tenets have gone hand-in-hand with the folding process since their genesis.

A dedicated LE KLINT team takes great pride in every aspect of the production, fitting, quality control, and shipment procedures to ensure each lamp is unique. In-house production facilities in Odense collaborate with skilled suppliers such as wood carvers, metal casters, and glass blowers, based in Denmark or internationally, with the main focus on quality as “the” guideline.
To clean the shades, you can use a handheld vacuum, a damp cloth, a feather duster, or a soft brush.

To remove the shades - follow instructions in the manual as you would fit or replace a lightbulb.

Poul Christiansen

Poul Christiansen trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture. He worked in architecture and design for Ib & Jørgen Rasmussen from 1977 to 1986 and founded "Komplot Design" together with Boris Berlin in 1987.
Between 1969 and 1987, Poul Christiansen brought innovative and exciting dimensions to LE KLINT's lampshades.
Before his involvement, the shades folded in straight lines across the pleats. Poul Christiansen discovered that folding in mathematical curves gave the lamp shades beautiful and unique sculptural shapes. His most famous creation is the Sinus Line Series, which he developed by combining sine curves so that they formed a lampshade when folded.
Poul Christiansen continues to design new lamps for LE KLINT, and in 2006 he created the wall lamp - Model 215 – allegedly inspired by the Sydney Opera House. Later in 2008, this lamp was introduced in a molded plastic version for outdoor use.
Over the years, Poul Christiansen designed several LE KLINT lamps, and in the mid-2000s, he evolved the soft folded curves to the creation of the Elysion light sculptures. These lights are hand-folded from one sheet of lampshade foil and thus represent genuine craftsmanship like other lampshades made by LE KLINT. The Elysion light sculpture is also available in an outdoor version.

LE KLINT

LE KLINT is a lighting company established in 1943, but the story of the company dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when a hand pleated lamp shade was folded to fit a paraffin lamp both designed by architect and master of engineering P.V. Jensen-Klint. We have ever since maintained our original concept but we are constantly seeking to develop within modern times.
