Conceived by designer Rikke Frost, the Le Klint Caleo Pendant was runner-up on the popular Danish TV competition show called "Denmark's Next Classic." Her design combines an angular brass bar that holds the pleating shade together and can rotate 90 degrees.
With a sleek contemporary design, the Caleo collection consists of three unique pendants.
The Caleo collection is a perfect mix of classic and modern Danish designs.
LE KLINT is synonymous with lampshades. Iconic, hand-folded shades take years of learning techniques and mastering many different pleating forms. Only then can a student test into certification to become part of the skilled team of Pleating Technicians. However, this is only a fraction of the procedure of each lamp. Specialist metal workers, woodworkers, and engineers play a big part in the magic of creating unique illuminated art. These tenets have gone hand-in-hand with the folding process since their genesis.
A dedicated LE KLINT team takes great pride in every aspect of the production, fitting, quality control, and shipment procedures to ensure each lamp is unique. In-house production facilities in Odense collaborate with skilled suppliers such as wood carvers, metal casters, and glass blowers, based in Denmark or internationally, with the main focus on quality as “the” guideline.
To remove the shades - follow instructions in the manual as you would fit or replace a lightbulb.
Rikke Frost
Rikke Frost was honored to be the overall winner of DR1's culture show "Denmark's next classic." We helped Rikke along the way with one of the six challenges of the program, which was the task of creating a beautiful table lamp.
Viewers could follow Rikke on TV as she created a classic but reimagined lamp. Our encounter with Rikke has resulted in an exciting collaboration. With some adjustments, the light from the show was introduced as a lighting series named "CALEO." The name is Latin for "to highlight," which refers to the lamps' beautiful browned upstrokes, which were hand-crafted.
In addition to participating in "Denmark's next classic," Rikke has participated in several exhibitions at home and abroad. She has won several design awards, including Boligmagasinet's Design Award as the reader favorite of 2012 with her rocking chair "Sway." On a regular day, she works in her own company, "Rikke Frost Design," and her collaborators include companies such as Tempur, Skagerak, Cane-Line, Warm Nordic, and LE KLINT.
Rikke graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2000.
LE KLINT
LE KLINT is a lighting company established in 1943, but the story of the company dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when a hand pleated lamp shade was folded to fit a paraffin lamp both designed by architect and master of engineering P.V. Jensen-Klint. We have ever since maintained our original concept but we are constantly seeking to develop within modern times.
