First introduced in 1952 by Danish designer Erik Hansen, the Le Klint 335 Sax Lamp has become a true icon of Scandinavian lighting design. While many have imitated its unique folding-arm style, there is only one authentic Sax Lamp—still handmade in Odense, Denmark by Le Klint’s skilled artisans.
Crafted with precision, the Sax Lamp features a classic accordion-style arm that extends effortlessly from 16" to 26", allowing you to direct light exactly where you need it. This makes it a perfect choice for bedside reading, illuminating a cozy corner, or adding functional light behind a sofa or recliner—especially in spaces where floor space is limited.
Available in rich walnut or sleek black lacquer, the Le Klint 335 blends timeless Danish craftsmanship with versatile, modern functionality. Its hand-pleated shade, made from durable and easy-to-clean plastic, diffuses light beautifully while preventing glare.

LE KLINT is synonymous with lampshades. Iconic, hand-folded shades take years of learning techniques and mastering many different pleating forms. Only then can a student test into certification to become part of the skilled team of Pleating Technicians. However, this is only a fraction of the procedure of each lamp. Specialist metal workers, woodworkers, and engineers play a big part in the magic of creating unique illuminated art. These tenets have gone hand-in-hand with the folding process since their genesis.
A dedicated LE KLINT team takes great pride in every aspect of the production, fitting, quality control, and shipment procedures to ensure each lamp is unique. In-house production facilities in Odense collaborate with skilled suppliers such as wood carvers, metal casters, and glass blowers, based in Denmark or internationally, with the main focus on quality as “the” guideline.
To remove the shades - follow instructions in the manual as you would fit or replace a lightbulb.
Erik Hansen
In 1952 Erik Hansen designed the first Sax (scissor) lamp for LE KLINT. For many people, the classic lines and texture of the paper shade and natural wood are synonymous with LE KLINT.
Over many years, the Sax lamp's production has included an upward and downward facing shade in multiple wood species. Today this lamp is available in light oak, black oak, and smoked oak.
The Sax lamp has been copied by many, but there is only one original.

LE KLINT
LE KLINT is a lighting company established in 1943, but the story of the company dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when a hand pleated lamp shade was folded to fit a paraffin lamp both designed by architect and master of engineering P.V. Jensen-Klint. We have ever since maintained our original concept but we are constantly seeking to develop within modern times.
