The Le Klint 2 Shade, designed by Tage Klint in 1945, holds historical significance as a refined version of the Le Klint 1 Shade. It reflects LeKlint’s signature craftsmanship, characterized by clean, pleated lines that create a timeless, elegant look. The shade's versatility is noteworthy, as it can be used across a range of fixtures, including pendants, table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lights.
Available in materials such as plastic or paper, the shades are handcrafted in Denmark, ensuring that each piece meets high-quality standards. Measuring the side length is crucial for selecting the right size, and detailed instructions are provided lower on this page to guide users through the process.
This combination of tradition, design, and functionality has made the LeKlint 2 Shade an enduring piece in modern lighting design.
LE KLINT is synonymous with lampshades. Iconic, hand-folded shades take years of learning techniques and mastering many different pleating forms. Only then can a student test into certification to become part of the skilled team of Pleating Technicians. However, this is only a fraction of the procedure of each lamp. Specialist metal workers, woodworkers, and engineers play a big part in the magic of creating unique illuminated art. These tenets have gone hand-in-hand with the folding process since their genesis.
A dedicated LE KLINT team takes great pride in every aspect of the production, fitting, quality control, and shipment procedures to ensure each lamp is unique. In-house production facilities in Odense collaborate with skilled suppliers such as wood carvers, metal casters, and glass blowers, based in Denmark or internationally, with the main focus on quality as “the” guideline.
LeKlint Paper Shades can not be cleaned with water or any type of liquid.
LeKlint standard shades can be washed in lukewarm soapy water, then rinsed under a gentle flow from a shower head, then dried thoroughly before re-use. A damp cloth can be used to remove any immediate spills or marks - but only on LeKlint standard shades (plastic)
Tage Klint
Tage Klint, the son of P.V. Jensen-Klint, was a creative entrepreneur who decided in 1943 to transform the Klint family's pleating activities into a business, thus establishing the commercial foundations for the LE KLINT Company.
Tage Klint added the unique collar to the original Klint lampshades, which exploits the elasticity in the material, allowing the shade to fit firmly on a stand. Tage Klint also designed several lamps, some of which are still part of the LE KLINT product range.
Tage Klint was a qualified chartered surveyor. In 1943, Thomas B. Thrige persuaded him to travel to Odense in Denmark to work on building the 'Triangel' car factory. He also established two other companies, Lactosan and Sanovo.
LE KLINT
LE KLINT is a lighting company established in 1943, but the story of the company dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when a hand pleated lamp shade was folded to fit a paraffin lamp both designed by architect and master of engineering P.V. Jensen-Klint. We have ever since maintained our original concept but we are constantly seeking to develop within modern times.
