The Lantern, created in 1944, is one of the most detailed LE KLINT lamps. Unique and fascinating, it is the perfect combination of design, technology, and craftsmanship. The enclosed shape makes it perfect for hanging at height as it shades the light source from all angles.
Located in Odense, Denmark, LE KLINT focuses on good craftsmanship and in-house production as branding cornerstones. World-renowned quality lighting results from techniques and traditions handed down from generation to generation, which are still carried out today by a broad team of highly skilled workers.

LE KLINT is synonymous with lampshades. Iconic, hand-folded shades take years of learning techniques and mastering many different pleating forms. Only then can a student test into certification to become part of the skilled team of Pleating Technicians. However, this is only a fraction of the procedure of each lamp. Specialist metal workers, woodworkers, and engineers play a big part in the magic of creating unique illuminated art. These tenets have gone hand-in-hand with the folding process since their genesis.

A dedicated LE KLINT team takes great pride in every aspect of the production, fitting, quality control, and shipment procedures to ensure each lamp is unique. In-house production facilities in Odense collaborate with skilled suppliers such as wood carvers, metal casters, and glass blowers, based in Denmark or internationally, with the main focus on quality as “the” guideline.
To clean the shades, you can use a handheld vacuum, a damp cloth, a feather duster, or a soft brush.

To remove the shades - follow instructions in the manual as you would fit or replace a lightbulb.

Kaare Klint

Kaare Klint served as an apprentice to architect Carl Petersen and his father, P.V. Jensen-Klint, in whose footsteps he followed as an architect to the Grundtvig Church.
Kaare Klint designed the interior of the Le Klint Store in Store Kirkestræde in Copenhagen and supplied the drawings for Model 101, known as "The Lantern," and Le Klint 306, a versatile wall and table lamp, which are still two of the most outstanding lights in the LE KLINT range. He was appointed a university lecturer in 1924, and in 1944 he became a Professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Copenhagen, where he founded the School of Furniture Design.
Kaare Klint was commissioned for many projects. Two of his outstanding masterpieces are The Bethlehem Church in Copenhagen (1935-37) and the décor for the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen (in cooperation with Ivar Bentsen) from 1921-26.

LE KLINT

LE KLINT is a lighting company established in 1943, but the story of the company dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when a hand pleated lamp shade was folded to fit a paraffin lamp both designed by architect and master of engineering P.V. Jensen-Klint. We have ever since maintained our original concept but we are constantly seeking to develop within modern times.
