The Butterfly combines the inviting character of a round dining table with a base designed to be seen from every angle. Three sizes provide options for different dining spaces, while the selection of wood species and finishes allows the character of the base to change considerably from one configuration to another.

The Butterfly Round Glass Top Dining Table is available in 48", 54", and 60" diameters, with each size standing 30" high. The 9/16" clear tempered glass top provides a substantial dining surface while preserving a clear view of the hardwood base beneath.

The Butterfly's defining feature is its sculptural base, where sweeping hardwood forms create a sense of movement beneath the tabletop. Rather than concealing that structure, the clear glass makes the base visible from above as well as from around the table, allowing the craftsmanship to become an integral part of the dining surface itself. Its round shape creates an inviting seating arrangement without a defined head or foot of the table. The open base and transparent top also reduce the table's visual weight, an especially useful quality in the larger sizes where a conventional solid top could feel considerably more substantial.

The lumber used comes from the American Northern Forest, much of it within 500 miles of Copeland's factory, consuming less energy in transporting raw material to the factory. An independent research study,* commissioned by the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) and conducted by a team of international experts confirms that:

1. U.S. hardwoods derive from legal and well managed forests. Hardwood procured from anywhere in the hardwood states could be considered Low Risk in all five Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) controlled wood risk categories.
2. There exists, a low risk that U.S. hardwoods are produced from controversial sources as defined in the Chain of Custody standard of the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
3. The U.S. hardwood-producing region can be considered low risk for illegal and non-sustainable hardwood sourcing as a result of public and private regulatory and non-regulatory programs.

Commitment To Sustainability

Copeland uses a post-catalyzed conversion varnish that is GREENGUARD Certified for low chemical emissions as the default finish option on all of our products. GREENGUARD certification is a testing program of UL (Underwriters Laboratory) focusing on the issue of indoor air quality.

With more than 1,000,000 kWh of solar production and 3,500,000 BTUs of bio-mass heat generation capacity, Copeland generate 95% of their own energy, onsite. Based on figures provided by the EPA’s eGRID, their two solar installations offset over 1.5 million pounds of CO2 emissions annually.

While the environmental impact of the Copeland factory and the environmental cost of the furniture built for you is among the lowest, Copeland is not standing still. They continue to work to reduce VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions. Reduced packaging material purchases with the installation of a box making machine allows them to make only what is needed. Copeland recycles all packaging waste and have reduced their reliance on landfill disposal. They now heat their building completely with wood waste from the manufacturing operation further reducing the consumption of imported oil.

The Butterfly base is crafted from solid hardwood and is available in Oak, Cherry, or American Black Walnut. Oak and Cherry can be selected in a range of finishes, providing considerable flexibility in color and character, while American Black Walnut is offered in a Natural finish that highlights its naturally rich coloration and grain. Natural variations in color, grain pattern, mineral streaks, knots, and other characteristics are part of the appeal of solid wood and make each Butterfly table distinct. The clear tempered glass provides a contrasting material above the warm hardwood while allowing those natural characteristics to remain visible.

Regular care will help maintain the appearance of both the hardwood base and glass top. Wood surfaces should be protected from excessive moisture, heat, harsh cleaning products, and abrasive materials, while the glass can be cleaned separately as needed.

• Clean spills promptly with a damp cloth and mild soap
• Dry wood surfaces thoroughly after cleaning
• Do not use polishes, waxes, or solvents on the wood finish
• Do not apply tape or stickers to finished wood surfaces
• Avoid placing hot objects or candles directly against finished wood
• Clean the glass with an appropriate glass cleaner and soft, nonabrasive cloth
