The Table VIP was designed by Professor Joergen Gammelgaard in the mid 80’ties together with the rest of the VIP range of lamps. The almost floating shade may have been too daring back in the 80’ties but today – when Gammelgaards iconic Swing VIP and Floor VIP are experiencing a steadily growing demand - the Table VIP seems to fit exactly in today’s demand for really unique designs.
The shape of the stem allows the shade to be tilted – much like the shades on Floor VIP and Swing VIP.
In addition to providing overhead light on an end table, desk, nightstand, etc., the VIP Swing Table lamp has 90° of swing movement and 180° of shade movement. This versatility allows the user to direct the light from many different angles. Manually adjust the shade from overhead to an open-faced direction with a simple motion. Internal friction enables the shade to stay in place until moved again.

Jorgen Gammelgaard

Jørgen Gammelgaard belonged to a generation of skilful furniture designers who all learned their craft in the time-honoured Danish apprenticeship tradition. Following his apprenticeship Gammelgaard studied with Grete Jalk, and then became a student at the Danish Royal Academy’s furniture school, working under Poul Kjærholm and Ole Wanscher. Gammelgaard later worked in the design studios of Arne Jacobsen, Mogens Koch, Steen Eiler Rasmussen and Jørgen Bo. During this period he also did consultancy work for the UN on Samoa, where he designed his famous Tip-Top lampshade. Some of Gammelgaard’s most successful furniture designs include the Crestrail and Skagen chairs. Jørgen Gammelgaard was the first designer to receive the annual awards from both the Danish Design Council and The Council for Arts and Crafts. In 1987 he was appointed Professor of furniture design at the Danish Royal Academy.

Pandul

Pandul was founded in 1982. Close collaboration with Professor Jørgen Gammelgaard led to the developing of the TipTop and VIP collections. The Pandul lamp collection expanded by exclusive designs by celebrated Danish architect and furniture designer Hans J. Wegner and a series by renowned Danish designer Erik Magnussen. Now, as the latest addition to the collection, they proudly present some of the unique designs by another world-famous Dane, Henning Koppel, trained in drawing and sculpture but perhaps best known for his outstanding work for Georg Jensen silversmiths. The Pandul collection of Danish classic, modern lamps consists of some of the very best lamp designs ever made – by some of the most recognized architects and designers. Apart from its unique design qualities, a true classic, modern lamp in The Pandul Collection is timeless because you can not precisely identify whether it was designed three years or three decades ago. Like much good music, their classic designs have no age.
