Arne Vodder

Arne Vodder, Architect (February 16, 1926 – December 27, 2009)

Arne Vodder was trained at The School of Interior Design by Niels Vodder, and by legendary Danish Architect and Designer, Finn Juhl. In the 1950’s and 1960’s, while Denmark was receiving international recognition for its Scandinavian designs, he designed a wide range of items. Despite the classic timelessness of his design-style, Mr. Vodder is not as well known, globally, as some of his colleagues.

From the late-1950’s to mid-1966, in partnership with Anton Borg, he developed some 1,100 low-cost houses in a design studio Vodder and Borg successfully launched together. He worked with several furniture manufacturers, one of which was Sibast Furniture, for whom he had designed several sets of office furniture. By the 1960’s, Arne Vodder’s designs for Sibast had reached such places as The White House; The United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland; and other prominent offices around the globe. Besides Sibast, Arne Vodder worked with other well known furniture makers, such as Cado, France & Son, Fritz Hansen, and Nielaus.
