Johanson works for environmentally friendly raw materials, processing methods and distribution chains to be used by ourselves and our sub-suppliers.

No tropical wood is used, only beech, birch, and oak. Our Formica PSM high-pressure laminate tops can be burnt after use without any emissions.

All steel parts are recyclable. Before we finish the chrome/lacquer, all grease/oil is removed by alkaline wash and then sent for destruction. The lacquering is produced by electrostatic epoxy powder coating that gives a minimum of waste. The electrostatic chrome (chrome 3) is recyclable.

The limited numbers of plastic parts that are used are recyclable by grinding. All upholstery and frames of synthetic material are entirely free of C.F.C. emissions.

All glue is water-based.
  • Möbelfakta Certified
  • Nordic Swan Ecolabel Certified

Upholstery

We work purely with selected suppliers, specializing in materials for the contract market. Johanson aims, as far as possible, to use Eco-labelled materials in our standard range.

Seat Frames and Foam

Our frames meet the toughest demands and are tested at RISE (Research Institute of Sweden).

To offer top-quality furniture for the contract market, we have chosen to work with foam which meets the highest fire classification CMHRCombustion Modified High Resilience. CMHR is a polyurethane foam with better fire retardant features, compared with traditional foam. CMHR is standard on all upholstered Johanson products.
The full production takes place at our production facilities in Markaryd, with the exception of some components. Cutting, sewing, upholstery, frame production, and assembly are carried out in our main factory in Markaryd. Bases and metal components are produced by Metector (subsidiary), also based in Markaryd. By securing local production, we can offer high flexibility, short lead times, and a good price.

Fabric:

Vacuuming is usually sufficient to clean the fabric. To remove stains, use lukewarm water and gently wipe (do not rub too much on the material). Always use a white cleaning cloth to avoid discoloration. For more stubborn stains, use a pH-neutral soap or a detergent suitable for that particular fabric. If this does not help, contact the supplier for further instructions.

Vinyl:

Wipe with a dry soft cloth for regular cleaning. Do not use vacuum cleaners, this can scratch the surface. To remove stains, wipe or rub gently with a damp cloth. If this does not help, contact the supplier for further instructions. Remember to always finish by wiping the furniture with lukewarm water. Detergents can be ordered from Corium AB.

Leather:

Wipe with a dry soft cloth for regular cleaning. Do not use vacuum cleaners, this can scratch the surface. To remove stains, wipe or rub gently with a damp cloth. Do not use chemical coatings, cleaners, or soap solutions. This does not help contact the supplier for further instructions. Remember not to place the furniture too near a heat source; leave a gap of 5-6 inches and avoid placing it in sunlight.

Felt:

Vacuum or dust wipe gently. If stains, use lukewarm water and dry gently (do not rub on the material). If this does not help, contact the supplier for further instructions.

PUR (polyurethane):

Wipe gently. To remove stains, use lukewarm water and mild detergent without solvents, alcohol, or abrasives. Dry with a soft cloth.

Laminate:

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. If stains, use a soft cloth with ammonia (window cleaner), which eliminates the need for drying streaks. Remember not to use abrasive detergents.

Metal:

Wipe gently. If stains, use lukewarm water and mild detergent without solvents and abrasives. Dry with a soft cloth.

Wood/Laminate:

Wipe gently. If stains, use lukewarm water and mild detergent without solvents and abrasives. Wipe off any moisture. Remember that wood is a living material, light from illumination and sunshine have some impact on the wood surface color and brightness. Therefore, wood can change in color and brightness.
