About Luonto

Luonto Furniture began in 1964, when Finnish farmer, Pentti Viitala made the most courageous decision of his life: He sold his cows, bought a truck, and began upholstering sofas in the hen house of the family farm, selling them door to door. The foundation of courage and commitment on which Pentti Viitala conceived and built his furniture company is ever-present in Luonto today.

Located in the Osthrobotnia region of Northern Finland, family-owned Luonto is founded on high-quality products built to ensure that our children and our children’s children will be able to enjoy a safe, clean and diverse environment. Luonto is committed to using environmentally friendly, natural, and recyclable raw materials obtained within their geographic region.

Luonto is a family-owned furniture producer from the region of Osthrobotnia in northern Finland. Furniture Made by Hand

Every piece of Luonto furniture is individual, custom-built, bench-made by Scandinavian craftsmen. Most craftsmen have over 20 years of experience and several generations of families have been working with Luonto

A Commitment to Minimize Waste

In comparison to mass production, the craftsmanship and hand-made approach creates minimal waste, emissions, and consumes a little energy and water. Meanwhile, wood waste created throughout the process is used to heat the production facilities.

Efficient materials used by Luonto include, but are not limited to:

  • Reclaimed Leather
  • Recycled Eco-Felt
  • Cushions created from recycled plastic bottles
